MOZAFAR TAGHVA BALASI

Bio

Ali (Mozaffar) Taghva Balasi (b. 1973, Rasht, Iran) is a painter whose improvisational technique blurs the line between drawing and painting. He paints without sketches, letting lines and colors develop together through the brush. His expressive, Structured compositions explore nature both visually and spiritually, seeking underlying dimensions beyond the surface.

Color often dominates his work, but lines often animate the canvas or dissolve into it. In his work, every mark is a direct reaction to the emotional presence of the subject.

He began studying at the Rasht Graphic Arts School in 1989 and holds a B.A. (1995) and M.A. (2001) in painting. From 1991, he has been painting on a regular basis and exhibiting work under his own name as well as under the pseudonym “Mozaffar.”
