Finding a point of departure for developing a photographic series is often a difficult task. When thinking about photography, a photographer is often preoccupied with finding a subject to photograph or an idea to translate into an artwork. Another approach is to build a photographic series around a question. The images and texts in The Darkroom or Black Box revolve around a single question: “How can a photographic series engage with the medium of photography itself?”
