Negar Farajiani (b. 1977, Yazd) holds a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Art, Tehran (1999). She is a multidisciplinary artist who works across various media, with a focus on multi-layered explorations of the lives of the public and the private sphere in contemporary Iran. Her practice since 2011 has been mostly curating and organizing participatory and collaborative events such as “Tehran Monoxide,” “Made in China,” and “Known Destination.”
Her artworks have been exhibited at DEPO Cultural Center in Istanbul, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, Mariane Ibrahim Gallery in the United States, and Artissima Art Fair in Italy. Her work has earned her the Pasfarda Cultural Residency in Chicago and the Cheryl and Richard Rusz Scholarship at the University of California.
Farajiani has collaborated with apex art in New York, Komuna Warszawa Experimental Theater Group in Poland, and worked on the “Persebook Projects 8 & 9.” She has also presented her work by invitation at institutions like Seattle Art Museum, Yale University, University of Massachusetts, University of California, San Bernardino, and the University of Art in Tehran.
